If you’ve ever been through the small town of Brooksville in Hernando County, you probably remember a local landmark called Rogers’ Christmas House, which later expanded into Rogers’ Christmas House Village. Many Floridians and visitors have fond memories of walking through this store/attraction that featured multiple houses full of Christmas items. You might also have been sad to see it close its doors in 2010, after decades of delighting the public. If so, we have great news for you: Rogers’ Christmas House Village has reopened!

Rogers’ Christmas House began as a window display in Margaret “Weenie” Rogers’ father’s department store in 1970. It grew and grew until they were selling Christmas collectibles in a little village of six cottages located on South Saxon Avenue.

It became an internationally known roadside attraction that was beloved by locals and tourists alike for decades. Weenie passed away in 2006, and in 2010 the iconic landmark closed its doors. It fell into disrepair until the owners of the nearby Saxon Manor decided to buy and restore it.

The longstanding Brooksville landmark actually reopened a couple of years ago, but it understandably takes time to return to its former glory.

Some of the other cottages have been rented out to a tea room and a home decor shop, so Roger’s Christmas House now occupies only the main cottage. Although it might not be as grand as it was in its heyday, we’re so excited that someone has stepped in and rescued this piece of history.

The Christmas village no longer fills multiple houses, but it’s still a magical place to visit where it’s Christmas every day of the year.

Today, Rogers’ Christmas House Village carries a mind-boggling array of Christmas decor, ornaments, and collectibles, plus antiques, teacups, jewelry, dolls, teddy bears, and special items for other seasons as well. The current owners are hoping that the store can start small and expand until it returns to its former magnitude.
