Waterfall trails are enchanting, aren’t they? While hiking to a mountainous overlook or even a cave can offer unparalleled thrills, there’s something so captivating about a waterfall. Here in Virginia, many of our most beautiful waterfalls are tucked away inside Shenandoah National Park. Today’s feature destination is a gorgeous trail that will lead you directly to one of the best falls in Virginia: South River Falls. Ready to get started? Your adventure begins at the South River Falls Trail Parking lot, located at Mile 62.7.

From there, you’ll want to follow the blue-blazed trail all the way to the waterfall.

This meandering trail cuts through an enchanting hardwood forest. From time to time, you’ll even catch glimpses of the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains.

Hikers have noted that proper footwear is essential; the trail is prone to getting muddy throughout the year, and you don’t want to slip.
