There’s something to be said about seeking out the lesser-known places in Northern California instead of the super-popular bucket list spots like Yosemite or Tahoe. One such place that doesn’t get a lot of attention despite having so much to offer is the little town of Weaverville. Nestled at the foot of Trinity Alps Wilderness, just a little bit east of Junction City CA, this small town is a perfect escape for outdoor enthusiasts. The town also draws visitors due to its rich Gold Country history. Here’s why you need to plan a weekend getaway to this surprising town!

Founded in 1850, Weaverville was a true Gold Rush town that was once home to approximately 2,000 Chinese gold miners. Walking through the town today, you’ll see plenty of reminders of the town’s Old West heritage.
