With 4,000-odd square miles of landmass full of lush mountains, cascading waterfalls, pristine beaches, and more, the Hawaiian Islands could easily be considered America’s ultimate playground. But the Aloha State is also home to countless incredible man-made parks and playgrounds your kids are sure to fall in love with, and this playground, in particular, stands out above the rest. It’s also indoors, making this indoor playground in Hawaii the perfect place to go on a rainy day or to beat the heat and enjoy some air conditioning.

Welcome to Kids City Hawaii! This beautiful indoor playground recently opened on the west side of Oahu in the Ka Makana Ali’i mall and is heaven for keiki from infants to 13 years old.

Hawaii Playground January 16, 2023 Sarah M. What are some other things to do in Hawaii with kids? The Aloha State is one giant playground and whether you’re looking for kid-friendly hikes or literal playgrounds, here are some of our favorite spots for families:

Kamakana Playground. Kamakana Playground is a wonderland for kids of all ages. With tons of room for kids to run and play around, and a castle theme that has earned this playground the number 11 spot out of 50 playgrounds in America, this amazing place is fun enough for the whole family to enjoy! Wahiawa Hills Trail. For a summer adventure, this hiking trail and downhill tubing excursion is easily one of the most unique things you can do in the Aloha State. Tucked away in the Ewa Forest Reserve in the middle of Oahu far, far away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu, the Wahiawa Hills Trail is easily one of the island’s most unique — but the hike itself isn’t even the best part. This steep and slippery 4-mile loop trail follows a series of hills, thus the name “Wahiawa Hills” and is not for the inexperienced hiker. The trail is not well-marked and can be both confusing and overgrown at times, so it’s best to go with someone who has done the hike before. The pleasant river crossings and pools offer a serene reward at multiple points along the trail, and — if you go at the right time when the stream is at approximately three feet — you can tube down! Keiki & The Pineapple. This delightful spot is a one-of-a-kind cafe that caters to both Honolulu’s keiki and their parents. Recently celebrating their soft opening, this brand new kid’s concept play cafe, parents can enjoy a cup of coffee or a bite to eat while their babies and toddlers play in a safe environment. As soon as you step foot inside this adorable cafe, you’ll feel right at home. Kids play equipment is found throughout and the wallpaper is quite possibly the cutest we’ve ever seen. Aulani and Makahiki. Nestled on Oahu’s western shore, away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki is the small resort area of Ko Olina. While there are a few resorts here of note, the most well-known is Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa. The resort was designed with families in mind, which is probably why it was recognized as No.1 in the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards 2014 in the category of Top Family Hotel: USA. For those looking for a day trip instead of resort getaway, there is Makahiki, an on-site restaurant open to both resort guests, tourists not staying at Aulani, and locals. This casual, family-friendly restaurant was named for the Makahiki season, a traditional celebration of the Hawaiian harvest. The spirit of Makahiki shines through the delectable cuisine and local artwork. The highlight for families is the Disney-themed breakfast, which lets kids choose from pancakes, waffles, French toast, island fruits, traditional Asian offerings, house-baked pastries, and even a build-your-own omelet bar!
